PMS (Property Management System)

The core operational software that manages a hotel's front desk operations, reservations, guest profiles, housekeeping, billing, and room assignments. The PMS is the system of record for who is staying in which room and what they owe.

Why it matters: The PMS is the source of truth for reservation data that feeds into revenue management analysis. Snapshot data, occupancy figures, ADR calculations, and segment breakdowns all originate from PMS records. Data quality in the PMS directly determines analytics quality.
