GDS (Global Distribution System)
A computerized network connecting travel agents, corporate booking tools, and airlines to hotel inventory in real time. Major GDS platforms include Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport. GDS primarily serves corporate and travel agency bookings.
Why it matters: GDS can connect a hotel with corporate and agency demand. Compare current transaction, commission, programme, payment, servicing, cancellation, and account-production economics with other channels; GDS is not universally lower-cost or more efficient.
